This Saturday afternoon, something big is blowing into Nomad Bar & Kitchen – and it’s brassy, bold, and full of heart.
We’re proud to be taking part in Make Music Day UK with a very special event called “It’s Brassy Down the Bandstand,” a nationwide celebration of live brass music with one record-breaking goal: to unite over 400 musicians in 20 locations across the UK, all playing the classic march “Slaidburn” at exactly 3:00 PM on Saturday, June 21st.
As one of the selected locations, Nomad will be hosting the fantastic Penclawdd Junior Brass Band, who’ll be treating us to live performances between 2:30 PM and 4:00 PM – playing a mix of traditional brass tunes before and after joining in the simultaneous national rendition of Slaidburn.
This brassy blowout is a follow-up to last year’s “It’s Brassy Down the Island” and is part of a wider push to spotlight Welsh brass bands, community music-making, and the magic of playing together – even from afar. It’s all about music, local pride, and enjoying a proper good time outdoors with your community.

There’s no need to book – it’s first come, first served, with plenty of standing room outside. Whether you bring a picnic, grab a drink from the bar, or just swing by to enjoy the music, we’d love to see you here.
Bring the family, bring your mates, and let’s help make a bit of musical history right here at Nomad.
Saturday 21st June
2:30 PM – 4:00 PM
Slaidburn mass performance at 3:00 PM sharp
Live from Nomad’s outdoor bandstand
See you there – and don’t forget your best brass dance moves! 🎷🍻
